A Bit About Dr. Jill
Dr. Jill Skurnowicz is a Naturopathic Doctor and a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She is licensed as a Naturopathic Physician in the State of Vermont, with prescriptive authority. Michigan does not yet license naturopathic doctors, and care at Natural Care Institute is provided under physician medical direction.
Dr. Jill graduated Valedictorian of her class with her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, Illinois, in December 2017, and completed an internship at the university’s Primary Care Integrative Medicine Clinic focused on drug-free and non-surgical approaches to health.
She has practiced anesthesia for 28 years and has been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist since 2000. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy in 1994, worked in surgical and cardiac intensive care, and completed her Master of Science and Certificate in Nurse Anesthesia at the Minneapolis School of Anesthesia in 2000. She continues to provide anesthesia at surgical centers across metro Detroit, and served as a Clinical Instructor for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine from 2015 to 2022. That anesthesia background is why every IV at Natural Care Institute is placed gently, with numbing always included.
Her practice today centers on functional medicine, integrative oncology, IV nutrient and ozone therapy, mild hyperbaric oxygen therapy, and medical weight management. She is an active member of the Oncology Association of Naturopathic Physicians (OncANP), the Michigan Association of Naturopathic Doctors (MAND), and the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology (AANA).
Additional training includes the Advanced Applications in Medical Practice (AAMP) conferences in integrative and naturopathic oncology in 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025 and in endocrine assessment in 2022, Ozone and Oxidative Therapies certification, IV Nutritional Therapy for Physicians, Fundamentals of Functional Blood Chemistry, Functional Endocrinology and thyroid management, Insulin management, Integrative Fertility, and 100 hours of acupuncture training.
